What Really Goes Into a Wedding Cake
Yvonne Dixon is joined by award-winning confectioner Elaine Hamey to talk honestly about wedding cakes, from the craft and time involved to the disasters, trends and practical details couples often never see.
- Wedding cakes take far more time, structure and skill than most couples realise.
- The right cake maker should understand your venue, display space, delivery route and setup.
- Instagram, Pinterest and AI cake designs are useful inspiration, but not always realistic as real cakes.
- Cake samples matter because a wedding cake needs to taste as good as it looks.
"People don't understand how many hours go into a wedding cake."
